Physics 301: Electromagnetism
Fall 2008
Text: Electricity and Magnetism. E. Purcell, Second Ed.
Instructor: Juan Lin Office: Dunning N203
Office hours: MTuWThF. By appointment
Attendance Policy: Lecture 90% Minimum
Grade: Homework: 40 %. Two tests: 30%. Final exam: 30 %
In this course we will study electricity and magnetism from a more unified perspective. We will develop the theoretical tools necessary to understand the subject and strenghten your intuition through problem solving and numerical simulation. The course will cover approximately chapters 1 - 9 of the text.
